Weddings on the Amalfi Coast in Italy

In the  fall of 2008 my finacee and I decided to plan a summer 2009 wedding in Positano, Italy. At first I did not feel like I needed to hire a wedding planner as I myself am a corporate event planner and thought that I could manage it myself. However, I soon discovered that working with Italians is much different than working with North Americans! I was use to planning events through a process where contracts were provided and prompt replies were expected. It came as a very frustrating shock to me when I realized that alot of the vendors I was working with did not believe in contracts, deposits, and took FOREVER to get back to you (at least 2-3 weeks to get an email reply that only answered 1/2 your questions).

I then decided to hire a wedding coordinator based in the Amalfi Coast as I did not have the time and patience to chase down all of my vendors. At first I emailed a couple of large wedding agencies who claimed to specialize in wedding planning and promised 24 hour email and phone support through the whole process. This was a terrible experience as their prices were ENORMOUS! (around EUR 2000-3000). Not only that, they were terrible at getting back to me, answering questions, and didn’t seem to know very much about what the area had to offer. I decided not to go with any of these planners as I felt there would be no difference in service! One day, I accidentally just stumbled across Elizabeth’s website and when I took a closer look her prices seemed extremely reasonable and her message that she wrote sounded like she really cared about what she did. She also had a 24 hour response policy - which was great!

At first I was apprehensive about booking a wedding planner online as I had really no way to verify who she was; however, she provided me with a few very credible references. The first one was actually from the town hall in Positano who verified that she was a wedding planner who booked weddings there often and could be trusted. The second was from a girl in New Orleans who had used her and could vouch for the excellence of her service. After receiving those two references, I decided to book with Elizabeth.

Working with Elizabeth was an amazing experience. She constantly chased down vendors for me, sent me really cool ideas for the wedding, and even negotiated a better package from my photographer for me! She was always super prompt in getting back to me and I felt that she genuinely cared about my wedding and about making it really special. On top of her event planning expertise, she is also a qualified beautician and did my nails & make up as well for a fraction of the price that the salons in the city were charging. Her husband Luigi also owns a car service agency and was able to arrange at a discounted price for us transportation from Naples to Positano as well as the cars to take us to the town hall on the day of the wedding.

When we arrived in Positano, Elizabeth met with me the very next morning to do a complete run through of the wedding and to help calm my nerves! On the day of the wedding, she was up super early to ensure that everything at the town hall and restaurant were set-up exactly the way I wanted it. It was absolutely perfect and I DEFINITELY could not have done it without her help!!!

For anyone who is booking a wedding in the Amalfi Coast area; I would HIGHLY recommend hiring Elizabeth - you will definitely NOT regret it!

Thank you so much for all your help organising our wedding in Positano, I never wanted to organise a big wedding so having a small wedding in Italy where thanks to you all we had to do was turn up was perfect. You made us feel completely at ease with the whole process and any time I did have any questions they were answered fast. So, home now, its lashing rain & cold………..all seems like a mythical dream except for the rings on our fingers!!!

Just wanted to thank you for everything. Im sure there must be a lot of job satisifaction when you manage to make someones wedding day perfect, and it really was perfect- start to finish (well, except the giggles & tears in the church maybe!!!). We both agreed completely how perfect it was.

Not only the day, but all you dealings with me, you inspired confidence from the very first email, answering so promptly and honestly, and really doing everything you could for us. I can thank you enough.

It was a real pleasure to have both  you and Luigi as our witnesses. Given that you knew more about ideas, plans etc for my wedding than anyone else in the world, it was great that you were a witness. Having spent the time with Luigi in Pompei etc, we felt we knew him too, so it was really nice that you two were there. You make such a lovely couple, both of you so genuine and ovely people.
